Late Night Nonsense~The Start of Something New!

So I’m laying in bed with nothing to do on a wednesday night, which is now an early thursday and I have this sudden urge to write. But I want to start this new addition to my blog called, “Late Night Nonsense.” Every thursday or friday night, I want to designate a time where I can talk to you guys, who are still out there, about anything and everything. The nights might vary due to my work schedule, but it’s summer and I am going to make some time.

My school year has been quite crazy and it was hard keeping a balance between work, schoolwork, and my social life. I’m not gonna lie, my social life came first most of the time, but I really need to change that for next semester. I haven’t been living up to my full potential lately, is anyone with me? My mind has been all over the place lately and I just can’t seem to figure out what my calling in life is. I really am questioning everything I’m doing. I am hating all of my English classes I’ve been taking and I sadly came to terms with the fact that I am not meant to be an English major anymore. Now I have this urge to want to work for the CIA. I know right! NewBeautyGuru meets agent! Haha no, but I want to try and pursue international relations/political science. I took a political science class my first semester and strangely liked it. I’m not so into politics and maybe it was the teacher who made the class enjoyable, but why not give it a shot? I am in college, a time when I am supposed to be free to experiment. I just hate going to my advisor and telling him all of these changes I want to make because I change my mind so often.

Last night I was talking with my mother and I had gotten a text from one of my friends who needed advice. My mom quickly told me that my true calling is counseling. At first I laughed, but then I realized I am pretty great at giving advice even if the other person does not want to hear it at the time. And then I realized again that I hate psychology with a passion, and I need to stop dating psych majors. Seriously! Every guy I have been on a date with has been a psych major, do I have a sign on my back saying “All psychology majors come date me!?” I don’t think so, and it has not been working for me either. At this point, I am done with guys and need to focus on bettering myself. Guys will always be around weither we want them around or not.

Why is figuring out one’s path so difficult? I wish there was a book that outlined everyone’s futures to give us all some relief from stressing out over everything. At this point in my life I am unsure of every little thing, which bothers me so much. I have always been so sure of myself and it’s all been blown to pieces. At least I know I am not the only one who feels this way and I just have to have faith that it will all work out. God has a plan, I have to sit back and try to enjoy the ride.

What else do I do when I am just laying in bed? It’s only fitting that I am listening to some get up and dance in your underwear kind of music! I’ll link my favorite songs, that may or may not get me out of my bed and make me dance shamefully to it in my pj’s below. But you guys didn’t need to know all of that, I’ll just give you the music.

You are going to want to listen to all of those songs, my favorites are 1,3, and 4.

Goodnight Loves!

80’s Throwback

If anyone knows me they know I love the 80’s. (Well almost everyone knows). This post was supposed to be published a while ago, but of course it did not happen. Sorry! I wanted to do this post because I was watching a movie called Just One of the Guys, and I had my next inspiration. I mean, what’s not to love about the 80’s?

If you did not already know 80’s fashion has made quite a comeback in today’s fashion. When someone walks down the street you can pinpoint it. Is it safe to say the 80’s are back? Not quite. It will probably never be the 80’s again, but we can try to make it even better. Enough of this chit chat, let’s move on to the fashion.

Screen Shot 2014-08-05 at 5.02.09 PM

Can you smell the 80’s yet? The jean jacket with the studs is 80’s enough, but it does not stop there. Leather shorts and a cool t-shirt…Just take me back already. With fall coming up this could also be a good transition piece. Swap out the leather shorts for leather pants.

Screen Shot 2014-08-05 at 5.05.29 PM

I am sure we all have seen this during the summer. Did you think it was 80’s fashion? Well, it was. High waisted jean shorts were definitely in this summer, and with a simple unused shirt to tie around as a belt, you were tapping into your inner 80’s.

Screen Shot 2014-08-05 at 5.05.57 PM

This is one of my favorite looks, and Cher Lloyd pulls it off with so much edge and grace. I love her little British self! If you did not see the 80’s in her hair, earrings, jacket, shirt, necklace, pants, and bandana, you are blind. Point. Blank. Period. This is also another piece that can transition into the fall, just add more layers as needed. Any of these looks could be easily transitioned into the fall.

Anyone miss Saved By the Bell? I know it isn’t really considered 80’s but I miss it.

Who wants to know what I’ve been listening to?

Country Lovin’

There’s nothing that I love more than a good country concert. It let’s me know that summer is officially here. If you have never been to a country concert,  have you been living under a rock? The atmosphere is just indescribable. Parking lots are full of tailgaters cooking, drinking, and having an incredible time. For most the drinking gets out of hand, but who doesn’t find enjoyment laughing at the drunk guy who can’t produce a single sentence without slurring his words. IDK I just find drunk people at concerts so hilarious. But I have to say out of all the concerts I’ve been to, the people are so much nicer at country concerts. Maybe it’s the alcohol consuming them, but it doesn’t matter, everyone like enjoyable and nice people right?

I’ve been to countless concerts, but unfortunately this year I will probably not be attending any 😦 If only concerts didn’t cost money. The best concerts I’ve been to were probably the ones where I had the best seats and got to meet the performers. I’ve met Drake White (upcoming country artist), Kip Moore, touched hands with Brad Paisley! I was in the sixth row of the Demi Lavato concert with Little Mix and Fifth Harmony and I met Collins Key, what a great and tall guy! Well enough of my bragging 🙂

I think more people need to appreciate country music and stop listening to all that rap! (No offense). But seriously go out and try new things you will not regret it! I will leave you with two country songs that I currently love and have loved I have seen one of these guys in concert where he was amazing. (Chris Young).

Kissed By Summer

It’s that time of year again…Summer! My summer will be filled with college courses and studying! (Oh what fun that will be!) What a little overachiever I am! Thank gosh it is only two courses, English and Anthropology. But I will be at the University of Connecticut which should be so much fun, I cannot believe I am in college now. Do you know that feeling when you wait for something to happen for so long, and expect it to be so magical and life-changing? Well, that is not quite what I felt or still feel, this whole thing probably has not sunk in yet. Oh well, enough of me and on to the more important things in life. I mean fashion is more important than college of course, right? No? Oh yeah, maybe not but it is pretty close. Also what is important is the campus hotties! College boys… (This is where I start to daydream).

You’re still there right? I got a little distracted. This summer is going to be filled with many floral prints and bright colors. It’s what I absolutely love about the summer. It should also be filled with great music and friends, I’ll be sharing my summer playlist. I feel like I have not been posting any music lately which is such a shame. So you will get your yummy fix of music for the summer. Wonder why I said yummy? I have been saying it randomly lately, so I am just going to go with it. I have some great outfits picked out for anyone’s style, so check them out below!

This outfit now reminds me of something Perrie Edwards from Little Mix would wear. With floral’s being a main focus for Summer 2014, this piece is simple enough that it is not floral roadkill. Have you ever seen those horrible floral prints that remind you of grandma’s furniture? This is something we all could handle.

California Dreamin’ street chic. This outfit can be put together in just a few minutes. The fringe on the shorts is so cute and gives it that rocker feel. This is an outfit not to be overlooked for the summer, try it out! (Maybe don’t go too short on the shorts though!)

Do I hear the lure of Coachella? Maybe it’s just me. Coachella fashon is sometimes overdone, but this is a look that you can use to build from. Take your favorite band’s t-shirt and some rugged jean shorts, and maybe add a fringe purse, and for a layered look add some bangles on your wrists. There. Plain and simple. You are now ready for Coachella. Well maybe next year!

The American Classic, denim. This could definitely be a look for a night out on the town with the girls! An over-sized denim top will make you feel comfy but cool temperature wise. Then as shown in the picture tuck it in to show off the rest of your outfit and add the boho chic-ness to it. All you need is a terrace in NYC and a glass of wine in hand. (If you are legally old enough to do so).

The preppy-hipster look. Simple dresses like these show your sophistication with style and personality. You can not go wrong with these simple line prints. My personal fav is the one in the middle!

Floral.Floral.Floral. Try these two interchangeable looks, there is just enough floral print so grandma’s furniture does not come to mind. This pic reminds me of Kendall and Kiley Jenner. Right?

If it is anything I love about summer it’s the getaways. This dress takes you to a beautiful sunset in Aruba or the Bahamas. Wearing long dresses in the summer is a must on my list. They are just so comfortable and make you look glam instantaneously. I just want to escape in the wonders of this beautiful dress.

Album of the day!!

Screen Shot 2014-01-01 at 9.36.08 PM

I hope everyone had a great New Year’s, I certainly did. 2014 looks like it is going to be an exciting and eventful year. When I was flipping through the New Year’s Specials on TV, I came across this next band which I am now obsessed with. I am one who is open to all kinds of music, and I was told to always give a song a chance because the artist had meaning to put it out in the world. These boys hail all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark (except Louis) and they are of course, “Danish as F**k”. (As stated in their website) lol. Their sound can be best described as a mixture of, “punk, pop, and electronically induced dance rock”. It’s also like taking a music time machine(if that even makes sense) back to the 90’s, which is totally awesome. I am a 90’s baby after all.

These boys have been around since 2009, and most notably known for their hit singles, “Yeah Yeah Yeah” in 2010, and “Harlem”, 2013. (I wonder where I was in ’09 and ’10 because I would have loved to listen to them a lot earlier). New Politics is sure to be on the rise and playing on your local radio soon, I am sure of it. Start off 2014 right with New Politics, go and buy that album, I just did.

I guess I will also share some rather exciting news. Of course whenever I find a new band I like I search up basic information on them and follow them on twitter. Last night I took a rather bold move. Bold? Yes, I think it was. I sent a tweet to the lead singer of New Politics asking for a New Year’s Follow, and guess what…he followed me!! At first I was like “This is not real it’s probably just a fan account.” But sure enough it was actually him, I was smiling for at least an hour. So David if you ever read this just thank you so much. It also helps that he is (you are) totally dreamy and smokin hot. Oh, and have you seen those dance moves? I try so hard not to fangirl lol. I hope I get to meet him and the band someday especially since I might be moving to NYC if all plans work out. (I really hope this did not come out as crazy). But what can a girl do? It is in our genetics.

The evidence: lol

I leave you will one of my favorite song’s off their Album titled, “A Bad Girl In Harlem”. Once you hear David’s vocals and watch his sexy moves you will love them just as much as I do!

With all my love,

Songs of the Day!

Well, it is almost 2014 and I thought I would share the newest songs I have stuck in my head at the moment. They’re both from a band called Panic! At The Disco. I remember listening to them a couple of years ago, but then I stopped. Don’t ask me why lol. I leave you to listen to some of my favorite songs by them. Memories and The Ballad Of Mona Lisa.

I just had to…

I couldn’t just post one song when I love music so much and The Vamps. It is so hard to just pick one artist you love because there are a multitude of good ones. Well these boys are british, they have talent, and did I mention they’re BRITISH!! lol, for most of my readers you know I have a mild or  a high obsession with brits. Don’t ask why lol. Enjoy their latest single, Wildheart!

Song of the Day!

Tori Kelly has some serious chops. I have to say I love those gold accented jackets in the video. This song is something I have not been able to get out of my head lately, along with some fall out boy songs. If there was a song that described me, even in the least, this would be it. I am a hopeless romantic, and will be waiting for that special someone 🙂 I hope you enjoy the mesmerizing voice that is Tori Kelly with her hit Dear No One.

P.S. I would also check out some of her other songs, they are so meaningful and perfect too.

Album Title: Foreward

Winter White

Screen Shot 2013-12-27 at 8.22.44 PM

It’s no doubt that white has been very prominent in the fall/winter trends. White goes with anything and in the winter it just looks crisp and clean. In the picture above, blogger Annabelle Fleur, pairs a white coat with a simple black top and pants, that are also embellished with metal accent pieces. For a pop of color she adds the perfect yellow bag to her look.

I for one do not like to wear all white, which is part of the trend while adding layers of it. So I like this look because the white stands out with the other pieces also getting their shining moment. I would wear this in a heartbeat!

Stay tuned for my song of the day, I hope you enjoyed!

Forever and Always,

Time for the Holiday’s!!!

The Holiday’s is a time to gather with your families and reminisce about the past, live in the present, and dream about the future. It’s a time when families can come together for this one moment and forget about the struggles and pain they have caused each other throughout the year or years. No one is ever perfect and we all make mistakes but that is  what makes us human and that is why we all need to come clean, and try to create a new slate. It is better to tell the truth and face what happens, then to feel guilty for years to come.

My favorite part about the holiday’s is the music, the people, food, feeling cozy, and more food!:) lol. I love how each year I go to each side of my families Christmas parties. Each family has their own traditions. My mom’s side of the family gets together and we open presents on Christmas Eve, while my Dad’s side of the family waits for Christmas morning, and then we all gather at my Uncle’s house. It’s these moments I will remember when I am off to college next year. But I will probably come back home for the holiday’s, or start my own traditions and invite them where I am.

New Year’s Eve is coming up and I am very excited about 2014!! I will be graduating in June and then I am off to the big scary world lol :)! I am thinking I want to end up in New York rather than London right now, but I will see what the best decision is. With another new year approaching, it is time for resolutions. My resolution is to follow my passion wherever it takes me, and to be at one with myself.

I hope your holiday is filled with your loved one’s, joy, and happiness. To all military families and servicemen and women, I truly thank you for all you do. The holiday’s are sometimes a stressful moment, as I know myself as I used to have my mom in the military, thanks to everyone.

All my love,

Music song of the day:

The Mighty Fall-Fall Out Boy

I love Fall Out Boy, one of my favorite Rock Bands.

Makeup in my photo above:

Image 2

Most of my makeup is comprised of Benefit cosmetics. I love these products! I recently bought this product and I am in love with it. Have you ever had those little pores that you want to look smooth and flawless? Well this is the product for you. All of benefits products are a bit on the expensive side if you are on a budget, but it is worth it, and it will last for a while.

Price: $30

Image 1

Now I did not use this in the look above, but this is the only eyeshadow palette I use at the time. It is great for a smoky eye look, or something natural. It is more of the bronze color look. It is a must have. When I use this palate I also pair it with the Urban Decay Primer, for a lasting look all day.

Price: $52, on the Urban Decay Cosmetic Website

Image 3

Boi-ing! I love this concealer! I recently started using this product and of course I am in love. Although, I am in love with all the products I am featuring:) I am shade 01, I am the lightest shade. When you first open it, it seems like it would be sticky, or have a gummy texture, but it doesn’t. I goes on nice and smooth and covers up those dark circles under eyes. It is another must have!

Price: $20, I also get most of my products at Ulta

Image 4

Rimmel London’s Glam’eyes Professional Liquid Eyeliner. This liner is something I have had my ups and downs with. You need to make sure that you have a really steady hand or you will mess up and have to start over. But I have to say it lasts for a long time, and doesn’t smudge much if you have the right primer. Although I have had trouble with this product, I will still continue to use it because once you get it perfect, it looks great!

Price: About $5.99

Image 5

This is another benefit product. (Don’t you just love the cute packaging?) This is the powder I use along with the matching foundation below. I have been told while using this that I have porcelain skin, which is what every woman wants to hear. It does not feel to heavy on the skin and is very Flawless. I would recommend buying this alongside the foundation. If you are the lightest shade like me, I would recommend using the Ivory shade, “I love me”. Benefit has these cute little sayings on their products.

Price: $34

Image 8

This is by far my favorite foundation in shade Ivory, “I’m pure 4 sure”. It has a yellowish tint to it, but it blends really well. When I first used it I definitely noticed a difference from the foundation I was wearing before, Clinique‘s Even Better. I instantly felt the oxygen flowing from my face as strange as it sounds. It feels so light and fresh and it is build able. It’s oil free and SPF 25. If you don’t go and get anything else, just go and get this with the powder, you will not regret it! (Well, I hope you won’t:)! lol )

Price: $36

Image 6

If you shop at Ulta like me, you know that for certain purchases you get samples of products or gifts. This is something I received when I bought my benefit products. It is Smashbox’s Photo Finish Lid Primer. I did not have high hopes for it, but it is the best primer I have used. If you want the natural eye look with some liner, like in my photo, this is great for you. I absolutely love it and will have to get the actual product soon, not the sample.

Price: $20 7

This is something I recently received just the other day. I wanted to have a lipstick that didn’t dry out my lips and was not too dark. I feel like I can’t rock bold colors, but Clinique’s Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry is just perfect. It is red with a slight pink tint and moisturizing. I will be wearing this for a while!

Price: $17

Image 9

This is the blush I use from benefit and it comes on as a light pinkish red. It goes with almost any look. I love it, it gives that angel flawless glow.

Price: $28

Image 10

Last but not least my mascara from benefit. Yes ladies and gents those are my real lashes thanks to this mascara. I have nothing else to say, go buy it, it is amazing!

Price: $23

I hope you enjoyed! Now go indulge yourself for the holidays’s or buy these amazing products for your loved one’s.
